YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The fifth anniversary of the establishment of Armenia’s Air Force was marked Saturday at the Arzni Airport during a celebration event.
Present at the festivities were Armenian defense officials as well as guests and officials visiting from various countries.
In his opening remarks deputy defense minister Major General Mkrtich Abrahamian congratulated the Air Force and commended the officials. Defense minister Vazgen Sargsian–deputy ministers Vahan Shirkhanyan and Anatoli Zinevich presented diplomas to the graduates of the Aviation school of the Air Force.
The air show included stunts by the Air Force pilots and a very comprehensive demonstration of the Air Force’s abilities were conducted. Among the equipment on display were a number of MI-8 and MI-24 airplanes–as well as Hawk-52 and SU-25 fighter planes.
Major Mouradian of the Air Force was also elevated to the rank of Lieutenant Commander for his mastery of the SU-25.
The cultural portion of the festivities were conducted by various children’s choirs and military choirs and orchestras.
