BAKU (Interfax-Azerbaijan)–Azerbaijan’s main goal is to liberate Azerbaijani lands occupied by Armenia–stressed Prime Minister and presidential candidate Ilham Aliyev during a ceremony honoring handicapped veterans of the Mountainous Karabagh war.
"We are trying to ease the lives of the people who suffered from the war as much as possible. Azerbaijan is capable of resolving all social problems–but what matters above all is the liberation of the occupied lands," said Aliyev.
"We are working to persuade all international organizations to recognize Armenia as the occupant. Thanks to the activity of the Azerbaijani delegation–PACE has already recognized this fact. Azerbaijan will never agree to the occupation of the lands–although we are devoted to a peaceful way of resolving the conflict. But the people will never accept the occupation and will liberate those lands–whatever the cost," he said.
"If we see that a peaceful way does not bring about results–we have a strong army and strong people–which will assist us in liberating our lands," he said.
He said that with the commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline–the budget revenue will increase–to provide more opportunities to provide social aid.
The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on October 15.
