BURBANK, Calif.,–Citing job opportunities and the amount of federal dollars local communities receive from an accurate census count, Armenian National Committee of Burbank Chairman Garen Yegparian called on the local Armenian-American community to attend a “Community Issues Briefing” about the 2010 United States Census.
The meeting is Saturday, December 12 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Ovrom Park and Community Center, 601 South San Fernando Boulevard in Burbank.
Attendees will learn about census-related job opportunities, as well as the importance of making sure every Armenian, who resides in the USA, is counted.
The U.S. Constitution calls for a count of all residents in America every 10 years. The results of that count or “census,” are used to determine how much federal money a city or community receives for numerous projects and programs.
In addition to a friendly, refreshment-filled environment, those in attending the Issues Briefing, will hear presentations from ANC Burbank Chairman Garen Yegparian, ANC-WR Community Relations Director Haig Hovespian, and Natalie Osgood of the Burbank Complete-Count Committee.
