The Armenian National Committee of Burbank announced last week its endorsemen’s for the offices of city council and school board members.

The committee decided to endorse incumbents Bill Wiggins and Dave Golonski–as well as newcomer Stacey Murphy. The decision was based on the in-depth personal interviews–examination of the candidates’ responses to the questionnaires prepared by the Burbank ANC–and an assessment of the electability of each candidate.

In selecting school board candidates–"we had a difficult time," said Garen Yegparian– Government Relations Committee Chair. Consequently three–and not just two (the number of open seats) candidates were endorsed–Denise Wilcox–Connie Lackey–and Trish Burnett.

"We encourage all registered Armenian voters living in Burbank to vote on Feb. 25," stressed Yegparian. "This will demonstrate our commitment to the city and allow our input to be heard regarding heavily overcrowed Armenian schools–recognition of the Genocide and other needs such as a community center."

On Feb. 22–23 and 24–the Burbank ANC will be calling Armenian voters to remind them to head for the polls. If you have any questions–especially in regards to where to go to vote–call us on the mentioned days at (818) 562-1918.
