GLENDALE–The Armenian National Committee–Political Action Committee Thursday announced its final endorsemen’s–highlighted by the PAC’s decision to endorse Gray Davis for Governor of California.
Criteria for ANC-PAC Endorsemen’s: The ANC-PAC’s recommendations are based upon the candidates past history of support for issues of concern to Armenian Americans as well as their potential to effectively advance those issues once elected to office. The ANC-PAC does not take positions on every race that appears on the ballot and may–before the Tuesday–November 3 election–add to the list of previously announced endorsed candidates.
ANC-PAC Spotlight on California Lieutenant Governor Gray Davis: From the time of his first election to public office as a Member of the California State Assembly in 1982–Gray Davis has worked tirelessly to advance issues of importance and concern to the Armenian American community. Davis has consistently supported initiatives and projects designed to promote greater recognition and understanding of the Armenian Genocide. In 1997–and again in 1998–Davis delivered the keynote address at the Armenian Genocide commemorative gatherings at the Genocide Monument in Montebello–California.
Whether as State Assemblyman–State Controller or Lieutenant Governor–Davis–a recipient of the Bronze Star for his bravery as a US Army Captain in Vietnam–has always made the extra effort to exchange ideas with the ANC on how to meet the expanding needs of the Armenian Americans of California.
California State Senate – District 20 – Richard Alarcon (District includes Studio City–North Hollywood and Van Nuys). On countless occasions–Alarcon–a member of the Los Angeles City Council–has used his considerable influence to make sure that the City of Los Angeles always consider his Armenian American constituents when making their decisions. Alarcon has assured the ANC to continue that–once elected to the 20th District Senate seat–home to more than 50,000 Armenian Americans–he will continue his tradition of open dialogue and responsive and effective constituent service.
