GLENDALE-The Glendale and La Crescenta Chapters of the Armenian National Committee announced their endorsemen’s this week of incumbents Rafi Manoukian and Gus Gomez for the Glendale City Council election.
Rafi Manoukian–who currently serves as Mayor of Glendale–received the endorsement of the ANC chapters based on his strong record of community activism. "Mr. Manoukian has worked with us on a number of local issues such as adequate senior housing and assistance for small businesses," said Pierre Chraghchian–Chairperson of the ANC-Glendale Chapter. "The Mayor has shown us that he cares about the quality of life in Glendale and continues to prove that he is a strong supporter of the ANC." Manoukian has been serving his term as a councilmember since 1999–and chaired last year’s April 24th Commemoration event-marking the first time the City of Glendale had organized such an event.
Gus Gomez–who currently serves as Chairman of the Glendale Housing Authority–has also been in office since 1999. The councilmember has championed projects for job creation and economic development within the city. Last year–Gomez was honored as the recipient of the Armenian National Committee-Glendale Chapter 2002 Community Service Award.
"We’re confident that if re-elected–Gus will continue to work closely with our organization for the overall betterment of our community," explained Sako Tchakian–Chairperson of the ANC La Crescenta Chapter.
