STEPANAKERT (Armenpress)–The 5.1 km long "Vank Crossroad-Kichan" sector of Karabagh’s "North-South" Highway was opened November 7. Construction on this section of the highway started last year with funds from the telethon organized by "Hayastan" Pan-Armenian Foundation.
Executive Director of the foundation Naira Melkumian–Karabagh’s President Arkadi Ghukasian–Prime Minister Anushavan Danielian–and Parliament speaker Ashot Ghulian were all present for the inauguration ceremony. Melkumian and Ghukasian noted the economic importance of the "North-South" highway for the development of Karabagh.
Overall 61.3 km of the 160.3 km long highway has been completed and construction continues on another 72.3 km section. After that only 25.7 km will remain.
