YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A secondary school in Yerevan named after Rouben Miroyan–a parliament member who was killed last October 27–was connected to the Internet on October 19.
On Miroyan’s 61st anniversary–that was marked on the same day–a ceremony with parliament speaker Armen Khachatrian–deputy speaker Gagik Aslanian–Yerevan mayor Albert Bazeyan–the US extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador Michael Lemmon–other officials and representatives of political organizations participating–was held at the school. Relatives of Miroyan were also present.
Within the framework of a program on connection of Armenian schools to Internet–the US Embassy in Armenia’spent about $15,000 to furnish a computer room and subscribe to a year of Internet.
In Michael Lemmon’s words–this program aims to build a new Armenia. Besides the school’s students–members of the community may also use the computer room.
