GLENDALE–The Armenian National Committee of American-Western Region announced Thursday the addition of Ara Bedrosian–a native of Southern California–as its Director of Development.
After graduating from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science–Bedrosian worked in the US House of Representatives where he served as an aide to Congressman Richard Pombo of California–Porter Goss of Florida and House Majority Whip Tom DeLay of Texas. He later took a position as a researcher for the powerful House Commerce Committee.
Long active in politics in both California and in the nation’s capital–Bedrosian is one of the founders of the National Organization of Republican Armenia’s–which has quickly become the fastest growing and most active Armenian-Republican organization in the United States.
"Ara’s extensive political experience in Washington–coupled with his deep roots in Southern California and unwavering commitment to the promotion of Hai Tahd–make him ideally suited to advance ANC’s objectives," stated Vahe Yacoubian–Chairman of the ANCA-WR Board of Directors.
"Our latest legislative victories in Washington–especially the retention of the ban on aid to Azerbaijan–has made the ANC and the "Armenian lobby" an inviting target for anti-Armenian political forces. The addition of Ara to our office provides us yet another valuable resource in our ongoing mission to build a more secure and prosperous Armenian nation," concluded Yacoubian.
As Director of Development–Bedrosian will focus his efforts on developing and funding the ANCA-WR’s special projects and initiatives.
