LONDON–Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau member Mario Nalbandian attended–with observer status–the general assembly of the British Labour Party which invited the ARF to take part in the annual gathering.
The assembly convened Sunday in Blackpool with the slogan of "New Labour–New Britain," and is expected to conclude Friday. The main theme of the assembly was social reforms in Europe. The ARF was among a select group of organizations and diplomats taking part in the assembly.
Nalbandian took part in an assembly related seminar on European issues Tuesday–with keynote speaker British Foreign Affairs Minister Robin Cook. Following the seminar–Nalbandian attended a reception organized by the Labour Party.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair addressed his party’s assembly and discussed his government policies toward social and economic reform–as well as certain obstacles facing the realization of those goals.
Cook and Blair had the opportunity to meet with invited guests at the assembly.
