GLENDALE–The Western US Central Committee of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation met with Nagorno-Karabakh Republic President Arkady Ghoukassian during his visit to Los Angeles last week. The meeting took place on March 3 at the Universal Hilton Hotel.
Also present at the meeting were Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Foreign Minister Naira Melkoumian–Armenia’s Ambassador to the US Rouben Shugarian–Armenia’s Consul General to Los Angeles Armen Melkonian–Nagorno-Karabakh Republic representative in Washington Tevan Poghossian.
During the meeting–which lasted more than an hour–issues concerning the political and diplomatic approaches to the Karabakh conflict were discussed.
The role of the California Armenian community in the strengthening of Karabakh’s socio-economic infrastructure was also discussed–and the sides placed special emphasis in the upcoming telethon scheduled for November.
The sponsorship of small-scale economic and humanitarian projects were also discussed.
At the conclusion of the meeting–the ARF Central Committee pledged its complete support and cooperation to President Ghoukassian and stressed that–as in past years–the Central Committee–as a part of the large ARF family–was willing to do its utmost for the needs of Karabakh.
The Central Committee was represented by its chairman Hovig Saliba and members–Avedis Ispendjian–Viken Yacoubian–Bedig Kazandjian–Arsen Danielian–Mardig Gaboudian and John Kossakian.
