YEREVAN–The 117th anniversary of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation was celebrated Tuesday at the National Opera House, with party leaders emphasizing the vast legacy of the party and its commitment to national aspiration.
ARF Supreme Council of Armenia chairman Armen Rustamian said that the ARF is a well-established and influential political force.
“You are a political force if you’ve confronted challenges and historic experiences. You are a political force when the people, in order to achieve their national aspirations, look to you. A political force is an indivisible part of a people’s history. The ARF, throughout its history, has demonstrated that,” declared Rustamian.
In his remarks, Armenia’s presidential candidate Vahan Hovannesian said the 117 years of the party’s existence are not merely ARF years, but are significant part of Armenia’s history.
The ARF Bureau member said the birth of the ARF created a force through which organized political thought was reestablished and an armed struggle was born.
Hovanessian outlined the ARF’s contributions to the Armenian nation throughout the various key turning points in history and praised its political and national will to further the just aspirations of the Armenian people.
