* ARF calls for government clarification on its position regarding so-called "reconcilliation committee."
YEREVAN (ARF Press Service)–Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau members Vahan Hovanessian and Dr. Viken Hovsepian–along with ARF Executive Council of Armenia chairman Armen Rustamian met with Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian Wednesday to discuss the so-called Turkish-Armenian reconcilliation committee.
The ARF delegation urged the foreign minister to clarify the government’s position on the self-proclaimed commission–which claims to spearhead a dialogue between Armenian and Turks.
In response to the ARF inquiry–the foreign minister stated that based on his limited knowledge and information about the topic–neither he nor any facet of the foreign ministry have been involved in the formation of this commission.
Following the meeting,–Hovanessian stressed that while "we do not want to doubt the foreign ministry–it is imperative that the ministry provide a clear and concise articulation of its position regarding this committee. Published reports–thus far–make us believe that the foreign ministry has been involved with this matter. This creates serious concerns and raises the imperative for the clarification of their position."
