ATHENS (Azat Or)–A delegation representing the Armenian Revolutionary Federation at the Socialist International General Assembly met Wednesday with its newly re-elected president Yorgho Papandreou.
The ARF representatives congratulated Papandreou on his re-election and expressed the party’s gratitude for including the ARF in the organization’s executive board.
On Tuesday, the Socialist International elected Maria Titizian as its Vice-President, bringing the ARF into an leadership role within the international body.
The ARF delegation, headed by Bureau members Mario Nalbandian and Levon Mkrtchyan briefed Papandreou about the ARF’s activities and plans for the future, as well as the current domestic and international challenges facing Armenia and Armenia’s.
Papandrou expressed interest on the progression of Socialist ideals in the region and accepted an invitation to visit Armenia.
The ARF, which has been full-fledged member of SI since the 2003, will fill one of 37 vice-presidencies of the organization. Titizian’s position will oversee a vast region, which includes Armenia.
Joining Nalbandian and Mkrtchyan on the delegation were ARF Central Committee of Greece members Kevork Kolanian, Alice Papazian, Kaspar Garabedian, Vahan Bzdigian and Ricardo Yerganian, as well as the ARF Lebanon Central Committee chairman Benjo Bdjakdjian and the Azad Or representative editor Hripsime Harutunian.
