YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Armenian Revolutionary Federation parliamentary faction intends to raise the problem of privatized but not operating enterprises–the faction member Ruben Hakobian told Noyan Tapan.
He stressed it does not mean that "the faction supports the repartition of property–but the owners of enterprises should realize that they are obliged to use the production capacities of the enterprises–but not sell one or two machine-tools a year to satisfy their needs." According to Hakobian–the state is liable to exercise control over the operation of privatized enterprises. He pointed out that voters regularly raise this problem during meetings with faction members.
Hakobian reported that the faction has organized meetings with voters in all regions of the country–and "we are happy that despite the heavy social and economic conditions the voters address not only urgent problems but also basic ones and demand action from us."
Making assessment of the country’s legislative body since the time Armenia gained independence–Hakobian expressed the opinion that the Parliament of the first convocation was more creative than those of the second and third convocations. At the same time–he expressed optimism that in due course the current parliament "will be able to stand qualitative comparison with the first."
