The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Supreme Council of Armenia issued an announcement Tuesday about the outcome of Saturdays parliamentary elections, in which the party succeeded in garnering 13 percent of the votes, an increase over its previous participation in legislature. Below is the translated text of the announcement The Armenian Revolutionary Federation considers the May 12 parliamentary elections as progress along the path to democratic elections that adhere to international electoral norms. It is extremely important to recognize the active participation of voters in the election. This is an expression of understanding of forming a government by ones own free will. At the same time, it is essential to point out that the deep-rooted harmful practices of garnering votes through coercion and bribery were not effectively prevented. Certain political parties failed in their responsibilities within [electoral] commissions. Despite this, the ARF recognizes the outcome of the elections and its preliminary results. We congratulate all political forces being represented in the new National Assembly. We wish the majority party success and advise that they work with equal responsibility toward the internal and external challenges facing our people and government. We also hope that forces outside of the parliament will have an active participation in our political life. The ARF thanks the approximately 180,000 citizens who voted for the party, and all those who have brought their active participation through political awareness in order to achieve normal elections. We deem these elections as a visible expression of the continued growth of the ARFs influence. We assure all citizens of the Republic of Armenia that the ARF will continue to serve the Armenian people and government and will remain true to our election promises and goals.
