YEREVAN (RFE/RL)–Leaders of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) met on Friday with Prime Minister Andranik Markarian to discuss conditions for forming a coalition government with his Republican Party of Armenia (HHK).
An ARF Armenia Supreme Body member Gegham Manukian–said the meeting with Markarian did not result in a breakthrough. "There was no agreement; it was just a general discussion," emphasizing ARF’s approach for all sides to first establish a common plan of action for the new government.
On Thursday–ARF leadership held a meeting with Kocharian on the issue. ARF Bureau member Vahan Hovannisian–said he believes Kocharian found the ARF’s proposals "acceptable." Among other things the ARF is promoting setting up and running a special government agency tasked with fighting corruption.
