A tri-regional meeting of the central committees of the Armenian Revolution Federation (ARF) Eastern USA–ARF Western USA and Canada was held February 22-23 at the Armenian Center in Detroit–Michigan–with the participation of an ARF Bureau rep.
The two-day agenda included review of ARF North America’s numerous undertakings in the region–specifically political activities–Armenian national issues–efforts to strengthen the organization–developing its media–and public relations.
In discussing political activities–the meeting focused on Armenian Genocide recognition undertakings and pursuit of Armenian human rights issues–as well as the imperative of removing obstacles in the way of the progress registered by the Armenian people in this realm. The details of the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) study on the Armenian Genocide were reviewed–its probable consequences–as were the role of various organizations and other details.
The meeting concentrated on education and educating future generations in considering Armenian national and religious issues. This issue also became the focus of discussions on how to strengthen the organization. Reviewing ARF youth and junior organizations–the meeting decided to undertake joint efforts and utilize all possible means to educate our youth and members of those youth organizations.
As the tri-regional meeting coincided with the days following the presidential elections in Armenia–the Bureau representative briefed members on the details of the elections; in turn–the meeting recorded its satisfaction at the new level of democracy registered in the Republic of Armenia during elections.
Accordingly–the tri-regional meeting afforded the opportunity for the three Central Committees to join efforts and pursue their goals more effectively in facing future challenges.
