YEREVAN–A delegation of ARF Central Committee members of Armenia visited President Kocharian on Monday February 5 in Yerevan to discuss socio-economic matters. Kocharian said he valued increased cooperation between his government and the ARF–and said meetings between the two sides will be regularized.
President Kocharian informed the ARF representatives of all the steps being taken by his administration to improve the socio-economic situation in the country. He was pleased with the growth registered in certain sectors of the economy. The President also considered the various agreemen’s made with international organizations this past year to be very important for Armenia’s development–and said similar negotiations are to took place.
Kocharian said he was hopeful that the Diaspora would increase investment now that the Armenian economy is registering growth.
In regards to the internal political situation–Kocharian said stability prevails and stressed the possibility of destabilization is slim.
Issues related to Artsakh were also discussed during the meeting.
The same ARF delegation–accompanied by Aghvan Vartanian–chairman of the ARF faction of Parliament–and Armen Roustamian–deputy chairman of the foreign relations committee of parliament–had paid a visit to Parliament Speaker Armen Khachatrian on Friday February 2.
The strengthening of Armenia-Diaspora relations was discussed–along with improvement of socio-economic conditions. It was agreed that the Diaspora must be invited to help develop the Armenian economy.
