YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The only representative of ARF in the Parliament Roubik Hakopian said that "none of the officials of the former leadership have been held responsible for plunder which took place under pretext of privatization," Tuesday.
The accusations were made in response to accusations of parliamentary members in connection with the October 30 rally. Hakopian said that "everybody admit the fact that the plunder did take place and as a result the population of the country appeared in heavy conditions."
"If you’re really concerned over the future of Armenia–then why did not you vote for a proposal of ARF to set up a commission to investigate the entire privatization process?" Hakopian asked paliamentary members who voiced their discontent with the rally.
In connection with statemen’s that the current Armenian authorities launched political persecutions–the ARF representative noted that political persecutions took place in Armenia in 1994-1995 when the ARF was suspended and many ARF leaders arrested. Hakopian reminded that at that time the National Security Department was led by David Shahnazarian–who is currently a member of the National Assembly and who–according to Hakopian–"prepared all accusations against ARF for Levon Ter-Petrossian."
"Let me doubt your sincerity," Rouben Hakopian said.
