YEREVAN (ARF Press )–Within the frameworks of PASOK’s Assembly of Greek Socialist International–and upon the invitation of the Prime Minister of Greece Kostas Simitis an official reception was organized for the foreign delegations that participated in the Assembly. During the reception–ARF Bureau representatives and ARF delegation members met with Prime Minister Kostas Simitis and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Yorghos Papandrou.
During the meeting with PASOK’s Foreign relations representative and a member of Greek Parliament Paraskevas Augherinos–the ARF Bureau representative repeated his earlier invitation to Armenia.
During the meeting with Greek Parliament members Yorghos Katiforis (Deputy Chairman of Euro-Parliamen’s Socialist block) and Atanasios Baltas–thoughts on the upcoming report on Turkey in the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (which will review Turkey’s possible admission to the European Union)–were discussed.
The ARF delegates met with several party representatives of other countries including the Cyprus Socialist Party’s Chairman Vasos Lisaritis as well as German Socialist Party’s (SPD) representative and Bundestag member Mrs. Dakmar Luke.
A meeting also took place with the General Secretary of International Socialist Louis Ayala–who was invited to visit Armenia as well. Louis Alaya accepted the invitation to visit Armenia in the upcoming months and agreed to be the honorary guest of Armenian Revolutionary Federation. The possibility of having the Socialist International’s Conference on Caucasus Issues in Armenia was also discussed.
The ARF delegation to the Assembly included Bureau and ARF Greek Central Committee members.
