YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–At a meeting held at the National Press Club on February 1–Mario Nalbandian of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation stated that the issue of the revision of the Armenian-Turkish border must arise when developmen’s are being made regarding the Armenian Cause.
Pointing out that the form of compensation for the Armenian Genocide committed by Turkey "has yet to be specified," Nalbandian stated "at least 10,000 Armenia’s in the US have already turned to courts on their own initiative–demanding the restoration of their moral and material rights violated during the Genocide." Regarding the government’s policy–Nalbandian said that "the possibilities and limits of the claims made by the state must first of all be studied."
Pointing out that during the last 3-4 years the center of the Armenian Cause has moved to Europe–Nalbandian said that within the next few days the ARF Bureau will open an Armenian National Committee office to the European Union–which "must contribute to the foreign-policy activities of the homeland–chiefly in the economic and political spheres–and act as an unofficial representative of our homeland."
Pointing out that foreign relations have always been one of the most important fields of activities for the ARF–Nalbandian emphasized the importance of meeting with high-ranking officials from Greece–Cyprus and Iran. According to Nalbandian–these meetings are aimed at strengthening the relations with "our friends–the countries which have strategic interests similar to ours."
As for the relations with Turkey–Nalbandian said that the ARF supports the "continuation of the dialogue" with Turkey–but no more for the time being.
