YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Customers of Armenia Bank staged a protest demonstration near the residence of the President of Armenia–Monday–demanding that the president fulfill his election pledges to repay the bank’s debts.
"We will wait for the president to appear and give his explanations–even though it may take us days and nights," said the demonstrators.
They demanded that the government provide their bank with $100,000 from its reserve funds. Claiming that the bank had not gone bankrupt–but had great capital–the demonstrators alleged that around 30 types of movable and real properties at a total cost of $2.5-3 million were not included on the special lists of the Prosecutor’s Office–the Central Bank and the Commission on the Liquidation of the Armenia Bank.
