YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenia may become competitive in the international market in the field of information technologies. By developing these trends–Armenia may at once enter the information age–Acting Resident Representative of the UNDP Armenia Office David Hakobian said in a Noyan Tapan interview. As Armenia possesses a high intellectual potential–it may be quite competitive and follow the successful examples of Estonia–India–Costa Rica and a number of countries of the South-East Asia.
According to Hakobian–primary attention should be paid to "knowledge and information" in the country–rather than to industrial development. Industrialized nations shift their nature devastating productions on to the territories of developing countries–focusing on knowledge–high-tech and programming development.
