YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Elections for local self-government bodies in more than 800 rural and urban communities throughout Armenia are slated for October.
Towns, villages, and cities throughout 10 of Armenia’s 11 administrative provinces, including Ararat, Kotayk, Vayots Dzor, Syunik, Lori, Tavush, Shirak, Armavir, Aragatsotn and Gegharkunik, are set to hold city council and mayoral elections.
90 towns and villages throughout the Ararat province are slated to elect new City Councils on October 12, while 70 towns and villages throughout the province are set to elect new mayors.
Forty-seven towns in Kotayk province will elect mayors, including Abovian, Hankavan, Garni, Tsakhkadzor, while sixty-six towns Kotayk will elect new city councils. The residents of 88 rural and urban communities throughout Syunik provine are also scheduled to go to the polls to vote for new mayors. New city councils will be elected in 100 towns in Syunik. Meanwhile, thirty-one towns in Vayots Dzor will hold elections for new mayors, while thirty-eight will vote for new city councils.
On October 19, 92 towns in Armavir, ninety-three in Lori and fifty in Tavush will all hold elections city council elections. Meanwhile, on the same day, voters will elect new mayors in 61 towns in Armavir, 86 in Lori and fifty in Tavush, including in Etchmiadzin, Metsamor, Stepanavan, Akhtala, Noyemberian, Dilijan, Berd towns.
On October 26, mayoral elections will be held in 93 towns throughout Aragatsotn province. City council elections will be held in 100 towns including Ashtarak, and Aparan.
51 towns in Gegharkunik province, including Gavar, Sevan, Tchambarak, Vardenis, will elect new mayors, while fifty-five towns in the province will vote for new city councils.
94 towns in Shirak province will hold mayoral elections, while 100 towns, including in Ashotsk, Gyumri, Artik, will vote for new city councils.
