YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Archbishop Nerses Pozapalian Thursday received a delegation of participants of the Armenian-Ukrainian business forum led by the chairman of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Ukraine–Alexey Shnitko.
Presenting the results of the first Armenian-Ukrainian meeting to Archbishop Nerses Pozapalian–the chairman of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia–Aram Vardanian–reported that the forum participants wished to donate $10,000 for the construction of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Yerevan.
Greeting the guests on behalf of the Catholicos of All Armenia’s–the Archbishop thanked them for their donation and pointed out that the friendship and spiritual ties existing between the two nations have an historical background and the names of Armenian masters written on the foundation of the Cathedral in Kiev are a clear evidence of that.
Alexey Shnitko assured that his government is also promoting stronger ties with Armenia. The Armenian Apostolic Church has its diocese in Ukraine–and new Armenian churches are currently under construction in Odessa and Donetsk.
The guests visited the museum of the Holy See of Etchmiadzin and learned the 1700-year history of the Armenian Church.
