YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian Finance and Economy Minister Vartan Khachatrian and US Ambassador to Armenia John Ordway signed the Plan of Actions–designed on the results of the fourth meeting of the Joint US-Armenian Task Force in Yerevan last January 23-24–on June 10 in Yerevan.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials of the government–US embassy in Yerevan–heads of USAID and USDA Yerevan offices.
The goal of the Joint US-Armenian Task force is to develop cooperation in pushing ahead the economic reforms in Armenia and efficient use of US assistance to America.
The Plan of Actions stipulates implementation of a set of measures–particularly–the Armenian side has committed to undertake necessary measures to design the law on Exports Control–to join the Geneva Convention on Phonograms and to continue cooperation in financing anti-terrorist struggle.
The US in turn has committed to provide necessary information for Armenia’s accession to the World Trade Organization–to look into possibilities of granting Armenia a preferential right to export it tobacco products to US–to aid Armenia to revise its banking legislation–to discuss possibilities for delivering technical facilities for application of the law on Exports Control and also to cooperate with Armenian agencies in several other areas–including development of solar energy facilities–small and medium sized enterprises–fight against corruption–educational reforms and others.
Also a memorandum of understanding was signed by Armenian fiancee and economy ministry and US Treasury–whereby the US Treasury commits to assist Armenian finance and economy ministry in setting a center for training of public sector employees.
