YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenia’s defense minister Serge Sarksian arrived today in the Tavush province of Armenia to visit several military units after a series of recently reported skirmishes with Azeri border troops in Ijevan and Noyemberian regions located on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
Sarkisian will likely meet with his Azeri counterpart to discuss adherence to the cease-fire in the border zones.
On Monday–Armenian and Nagorno-Karabagh defense officials denied the Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry’s allegations that Armenian forces in Karabagh attacked an Azerbaijani military outpost over the weekend.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry claimed that two Azerbaijani and five Armenian soldiers were killed on July 5 in a border clash in the Fizuli region–an area separating Azerbaijani military installations and Nagorno-Karabagh defense posts.
