YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The editorial board of the Armenian Encyclopedia is preparing a one-volume encyclopedia titled–"Armenian Diaspora." It will cover the history of Armenian communities spanning 70 states starting from their establishment on up to present day.
According to Amalia Petrossian–head of the editorial board–the encyclopedia is a unique publication which will include articles on the spiritual and cultural values of the Armenian Diaspora (schools–science–church–public organizations–sport life–art). She reported that the needed data are being collected from the press–archives and libraries.
"We are in desperate need of financial help in order for us to finish the encyclopedia. We feel that the Diaspora should contribute to the publishing costs," Petrossian said.
She said that $80,000 was earmarked from the budget to publish this encyclopedia and the third volume of the "Concise Encyclopedia of Armenia."
