YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)The Armenian-Greek Friendship and Cooperation treaty–signed on June 17,1996–was ratified by the Armenian National Assembly Tuesday.
The treaty aimed at strengthening the traditional friendly relations between the two countries and promoting stability and development in Europe.
The two countries also pledged to cooperate in the fields of human rights and the promotion of internationallu recognized fundamental principles of basic freedoms.
Greece also vowed to assist Armenia in developing its relations with the Council of Europe. Both countries support the process of disarmament–conflict prevention and pledged to join forces militarily.
The treaty will expire ten years from the signature date.
