YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian Parliament Speaker Armen Khachatrian met with Italy’s ambassador to Armenia Paolo Trabalza on October 31 to exchange opinions regarding bilateral–particularly inter-parliamentary relations development.
Khachatrian pointed out the similarities between the two peoples and expressed readiness to support the expansion of Armenian-Italian relations–and to act on Italy’s pledge to assist in the formation of a legislation to promote the development of small and medium business in Armenia.
Ambassador Trabalza said that the possibilities of establishing joint ventures in jewel processing–mining and light industry sectors are being discussed. He thinks that Italy will be able to assist in bringing new technologies and help Armenia to seek markets for its goods.
Both sides considered the development of cooperation particularly in the cultural sector to be important for the expansion of bilateral relations. It was noted that Armenia has serious scientific potential and the are possibilities of expanding further relations in the scientific sector.
At the request of the ambassador–Khachatrian presented the situation in Armenia–particularly the situation in the parliament–saying that all the political forces are ready to make every effort to improve the situation.
