ISTANBUL (Combined Sources)–The Armenian Patriarch of Istanbul–Mesrob Mutafian suffered a broken foot and nose in a traffic accident in southern Turkey on Sunday–news reports said.
Archbishop Mesrob was taken to a hospital in the southern Mediterranean resort province of Antalya–but his injuries were not considered life-threatening–CNN-Turk television reported.
The circumstances behind the crash were not immediately clear–although the Armenian Patriarchate reported that the cause of the accident was attributed to a failure of the automobile’s brakes.
