ALEPPO (Tert.am) — Recent missile attacks in Syria’s economic capital, Aleppo, have hit the Armenian populated Nor Kyugh district, causing no major damages.
The local Armenian news portal Perio News reported that rebel groups released fire from makeshift rockets against the Armenian neighborhood Nor Kyugh.
One of them went off after reaching an area between the St Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church and the Sahagian Armenian School of Aleppo. Another exploded in the vicinities of a nursing home for the elderly, damaging its electricity supply system.
The explosions left several people injured, causing material damage to apartments, stores and state property.
After more than three years of blockade, the Syrian Army on Thursday re-established control over the villages Nibol and al-Zahra.
The military’s progress is expected to help finally shut the corridor between the Syrian opposition and Turkey.
