STEPANAKERT (ArmRadio)—Armenian serviceman Arsen Arayik Arakelyan was killed in a shooting from the Azerbaijani side at one of the military positions located to the south-eastern direction of the Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani border at about 10:55am on July 23, the Nagorno-Karabakh Ministry of Defense reports.
Investigation into the details of the incident is under way.
The Karabakh Defense Ministry shares sorrow of the heavy loss and expresses its support to the family and friends of the serviceman.
On Saturday, President Bako Sahakyan signed a decree according to which the medal “For Service in Battle” was posthumously awarded to Arakelyan for courage shown during the defense of the Artsakh state border.
Armenian contract serviceman Mher Vanik Ziloyan, born in 1991, was wounded in an Azerbaijani shooting in the southeastern direction at about 12:10am.
His condition is satisfactory. Probe into the details of the case is under way.
The front divisions of the Artsakh Defense Army keep control of the situation at the frontline and continue with the reliable protection of the military positions.
