YEREVAN (AFP)–The three parties in Armenia’s ruling coalition, which holds a majority in the country’s parliament, said Friday they would support establishing ties with Turkey.
“The Armenian state has shown courage … regarding the future of our country and improving ties between the two countries,” the Republican, Prosperous Armenia and Rule of Law parties said in a joint statement.
“We welcome such a policy and urge all citizens of Armenia, all political and social organizations, as well as all Armenians around the world, to create the necessary conditions for this process to be successfully carried out.”
one word only describes all of you TAVAJANNER
The reason why Armenia’s ruling coalition backs the protocols is that today 90% of Armenia’s wealth belongs to 48 corrupt oligarchic families which are all part and parcel of the ruling parties, and their western backers are pushing them to sign the protocols, of which Serzh and others are part of those corrupt families.
USA who have played a major role in these treacherous protocols because its in the interest of USA and not Armenia, any fool who believes what USA promises us needs to go and have its brains tested.
I support the protocols provided that Turkey recognizes the Armenian genocide.
If this is not the case then the Armenian ruling elite are all bunch of traitors who deserve to be punished by the Armenian people.
Finally, a note to Mr. Sarkisyan President of Armenia. Any democratic nation in this world before taking a major decision especially relating to national interest resorts to a national referendum. In this respect both the Armenian people and the Armenian diaspora are entitled to vote in this matter.
Otherwise you have absolutly no right Mr Sarkisyan to impose your will on the Armenian people.
TO: THE THREE PARTIES IN ARMENIAN’S RULING COALITION IN PARLIAMENT.
DEAR COMPATRIOTS, ALWAYS NATIONAL INTERESTS NEED TO SUPERSEDE INDIVIDUAL, POLITICAL AND BUSINESS INTERESTS. DO YOU SUPPORT THESE ANTI-ARMENIAN PROTOCOLS WITH A CLEAR CONSCIENCE ? WE DOUBT I am writing to you to express my utter disappointment and anger over your acceptance of the so-called “Protocols on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations” between Armenia and Turkey.
Contrary to the claims of government that normalization would be negotiated with Turkey without preconditions, the provisions outlined in this protocol demonstrate a complete capitulation of Armenia’s interests to Turkey’s longstanding anti-Armenian demands.
There are several passages in the protocol emphasizing “territorial integrity,” “the inviolability of frontiers,” and the “recognition of the existing border between the two countries.” For Armenia to sign such a document would not only be tantamount to the acceptance of our criminal dispossession during the Genocide, but would also signify a dangerous reversal of Armenia’s support for the principle of self-determination as it relates to the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The proposal for an “impartial and scientific examination of the historical records and archives” between the two nations is equally detrimental and morally unacceptable. Such an initiative is clearly a ploy by Turkey to cast doubt on the veracity of the Armenian Genocide and roll back the growing tide of international recognition of this crime against humanity.
Rather than calling on Turkey to recognize the facts of the Armenian Genocide and build a relationship between the two countries based on truth and justice, your administration has now become complicit in Turkey’s denial campaign through its endorsement of this protocol.
The Armenian people cannot accept this compromising of our national rights which is being pursued behind closed doors. For the sake of Armenia’s long-term viability and the future of our nation, we call on you to immediately withdraw your Support of these protocol and recommit to a forthright policy of normalization without preconditions.
Sincerely,
Ishkhan Babajanian MD
