YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Officials in the scientific community in Armenia are negotiating with Russian scientists about the use of a module developed by Armenian scientists to be used in the developing Alpha international space station–Robert Sarkissian of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences Institute of radiophysics and electronics.
It has been three years that a similar module has been successfully operating in the Russian Mir space station.
The module is a key component in the system of monitoring the earth’s atmosphere from space and provides important data for research and experimen’s into atmospheric components.
Sarkissian explained that the same technology has been utilized in other military and space equipment–such as the MiG 29 anti-missile weapons.
Sarkissian stated that this technology could become an important facet in future space activities and announced that a Western European firm has already acquired the export rights to the technology.
