ARS Central Executive Members Visit The Prelacy

LA CRESCENTA, Calif.—Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian on Tuesday welcomed the Armenian Relief Society Central Executive members, headed by Chairperson Caroline Chamavonian.

The delegation included Vice-Chairperson Nyree Derderian, Secretary Rita Hintlian, Treasurer Silva Takvorian, advisors Maral Matossian, Nelly Vekilian, Liza Avakian, Sonia Akelian, and Varsenig Sarkissian, Executive Director Verginie Touoloumian and staff members Ojik Gregorian and Nelly Nerkizian-Kevorkian. Joining from the Western Region Executive were Chairperson Silva Poladian and Secretary Maral Touloumian. The Prelate was joined by Archpriest Nareg Pehlivanian and Rev. Movses Shannakian.

The Prelate welcomed the guests and, in particular, the Central Executive’s first visit to the Prelacy and lauded the members’ loyal and altruistic service stressing that the Prelacy has and will always support the humanitarian, educational, and national mission of the ARS.

On behalf of the ARS Central Executive, Chamavonian thanked the Prelate for the visit and his support, iterated that the fundamental mission of the ARS is to serve the entire Armenian nation through various humanitarian and social programs, and gifted a souvenir plate by Michael Aram commemorating the organization’s 110th anniversary.

The meeting also discussed the general activities of the ARS as well as projects that the organization undertakes on the regional level. An overview of Armenian communities worldwide, scholarship programs, financial matters, the organization’s World Congress, scheduled to be held in Armenia in October were also discussed.

The Prelate once again commended the members for their devoted service to our compatriots across the globe, wished them continued successes, and in conclusion, presented mementos to all.
