MOSCOW–The Armenian Relief Society’s inaugural Regional Convention of Russia was held Friday at the Russian Socio-Political Center. The newly formed organization was named ARS-Russia’s Armenian Women’s Organization.
The ARS of Russia was created to cater to the social service, educational and cultural needs of the Russian-Armenian community and through projects with other ARS region seeks to elevate the Russian-Armenian community’s role.
The Convention discussed the aforementioned issues, as well as the necessity for Armenian education for the youth, as well as establishment of social services in the Russian-Armenian communities.
Armine Arakelian was elected the chairwoman of the ARS Russia Regional Executive.
On hand for the inaugural convention were ARS Central Executive chairwoman Hasmig Derderian and the executive director of the Armenian National Committee of Russia Yury Navoian.
Russia becomes the 25th country in which the ARS has organizational structures.
