WATERTOWN, Mass.–The Armenian Relief Society Central Executive announced the launch of a relief for the Assistance to Georgia Armenia’s, in an effort to provide for Armenia’s who have been displaced following the recent turmoil in that country.
In an appeal to the community, the ARS Central Executive said their affiliates bodies in Georgia had reported that more than 100 Armenian families escaping the ravaged city of Gori have taken refuge in Javakhk, where they have been taken in by Armenian families there.
The Georgian sources also indicated that the number of Armenia’s fleeing different areas to Javakhk could increase in the coming days as the military activities have been halted.
The ARS has already instructed all regional executives and local chapters to undertake relief efforts and the public is being urged to heed the ARS Central Executive’s call and donate to the Assistance to Georgia Armenia’s.
The community is urged submit donations through local ARS chapters or the regional office for directly send checks to the ARS Inc., 80 Bigelow Avenue, Watertown, Mass. 02472 (Please write "Assistance to Georgia Armenia’s" as a note on the check).
