The 55th Annual Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s)–’Rebuilding Societies Emerging From Conflict A Shared Responsibility,’ will take place at United Nations Headquarters in New York September 9-11.
The Event is organized by the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) in partnership with the NGO/DPI Executive Committee and its planning Committee. In addition to 5 plenary panels and 30 NGO midday workshops–the conference will feature keynote speeches by UN Deputy Secretary – General–UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and other dignitaries.
Over 1,700 NGO representatives associated with the DPI and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)–from about 90 countries around the world–are expected to attend the Conference.
The conference will explore the role of the international community in supporting societies emerging from conflict and will examine the common experiences of these efforts–their shortcomings–successes and the best practices that people have developed.
Armenian Relief Society Inc. will have a midday workshop ‘From Less Than Zero: Opportunities In Rebuilding Economies’ on Tuesday–September 10th–at the United Nations Headquarters. A large number of ARS members from Canada–USA and Lebanon are scheduled to attend this conference.
