STEPANAKERT (Armenpress) — Artsakh Defense Army soldier Aramayis Voskanyan (1996) was fatally wounded by an Azerbaijani sniper on January 9. He was killed in the military position of a unit located in the eastern direction of the line of contact with Azerbaijan.
Investigation is underway to find out more details of the occurrence. Artsakh’s Defense Ministry expressed condolences to the family members, relatives and service mates of the killed soldier.
Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan posthumously awarded the private of the Defense Army’s N Division, Aramayis Voskanyan with the “For Service in Battle” medal for bravery shown during the defense of the state border.
The Azerbaijani side again contributes to the escalation of the situation in the conflict zone of Karabakh. The Defense Ministry of Armenia announced that the Azerbaijani authorities bear the entire responsibility for the escalation of the situation.
Armenia’s Defense Ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan stated that, “The adversary again escalates the situation which had some signs of stability. We have yet another victim in Artsakh. We express condolence to the family and relatives of Aramayis Voskanyan. The Armenian Armed Forces will not leave anything without response.”
