STEPANAKERT (Armenpress)–In violation of a cease-fire agreement–an Azeri military group of six or seven soldiers attacked Karabagh defense forces stationed at the southeastern line of contact between Mountainous Karabagh Republic (MKR) and Azerbaijan on July 14 at 4:05 A.M.
The MKR Foreign Ministry reported that the patrolling MKR soldiers foiled the attack–taking necessary measures so as not to harm the Azeri militants. The Azeri side withdrew with one Azeri soldier dead and others injured. MKR defense army suffered no losses.
MKR’s defense minister noted recent increase in violations of the cease-fire by the Azeri military. And that in spite of the Azeri defense minister’s directive to obey the cease-fire–Azeri military units continue violating the agreement.
The MKR defense ministry warned twice–in July–that any attempt by the Azeri side to compromise the security of MKR would be met with an appropriate response.
On Monday–once again–the press office of MKR’s defense ministry gave the same warning on attempts to destabilize the situation in the Karabaghi-Azeri conflict zone.
The leadership of MKR immediately contacted the Red Cross International Committee and the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe in Stepanakert about the attack and expressed their readiness to hand over the body of the killed Azeri soldier to Azerbaijan.
