YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Before leaving for Los Angeles to participate in the annual Armenia Fund’s 10th International Telethon, set to air on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, Nagorno-Karabakh President Bako Sahakian is visiting France.
Sahakian’s press office said he traveled to Lyon on November 8 to meet with Archbishop Norvan Zakarian, head of the Armenian Church Prelacy in France. Following his visit President Sahakian met with prominent members of the local Armenian community.
Before heading for Lyon Sahakian was in Paris where he was welcomed by members of various Armenian organizations. Sahakian met also with Bernard Fassier, the French cochairman of the OSCE Minsk Group.
This year, for the first time, the Telethon will air from the Hollywood studios of KCET, which is the Los Angeles affiliate of the Public Broadcasting Service, The Telethon’s centric theme will focus on human’stories in the context of responding to the urgent needs of rural Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
Proceeds from the Telethon will benefit Armenia Fund’s Village Development Program. The newly adopted program will focus on revitalizing a cluster of villages in the Tavush Region of Armenia and the Martuni Region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The 10th International Armenia Fund Telethon will air in all major Armenian-American communities in the US, as well as internationally on H1-Armenian Public Television across all continents.
