Baku Blasts US Minsk Group Co-Chairman

The US Minsk Group Co-chairman James Warlick

Accuses the US of Having a ‘Secret Deal’ with Armenia

Deputy Chief of Staff of Azeri President Novruz Mammadov took to Twitter Friday and blasted the US Co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick, saying that the latter’s tweets indicate that the US has a “secret agreement” with Armenia.

“It seems from twits of James Warlick that he has some agreement with Armenians. Possibly their positions towards conflict coincide,” said Mammadov in a tweet.

Warlick has been very active on Twitter recently, reporting on the talks with different leaders as well as a meeting this week in Moscow with his fellow co-chairmen Igor Popov, France’s Jacques Faure and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzey Kasprzyk

“Talks with Nalbandian in Moscow confirm that Armenia seeks a peaceful settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh,” Warlick tweeted after meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandian earlier this week.

Late last month, Warlick also tweeted about the Sumgait Pogroms of Armenians by Azeri forces in 1988.

“We remember Sumgait too. Both Armenia and Azerbaijan should support “people to people” projects to establish tolerance and confidence,” said Warlick in his Tweet.

In February, encouraged by a decision by the leaders of Cyprus and occupied northern Cyprus to begin negotiations he tweeted “Why can’t this happen for Nagorno-#Karabakh?” prompting questions about whether the US diplomat was calling for Karabakh’s participation in the talks.

The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic foreign ministry was quick to reply to Warlick by tweeting the following: “@AmbJamesWarlick We agree that it’s high time for restoration of full-fledged negotiations with direct participation of Nagorno #Karabakh.”

This is could be promising. It’s high time that the West and the US recognize NKR as Armenian territory– if not for its own principles (which are completely out of the question, really), then to put a halt on Russia’s dominance on Armenia partially over this very issue. It’s quite obvious that Russia uses Karabagh as a means of cornering Armenia for its own diplomatic and monetary gains by selling weapons to both countries, profiting off of this conflict.

Armenia’s “best friend” is one of Armenia’s greatest enemies as it is building keeping us smothered and voiceless for its own personal gains. With Iran slowly opening up to the West and vice-versa, Armenia could potentially have more valuable cards in its hand than many of our “Russia or die” colleagues would think.

I sincerely want to believe that Mr. Warlick is at least impartial. something inside tells me he is playing a game on us. He is not making frequent visits to Baku, Turkey, meeting with Bildt in Sweden for nothing. i am very suspicious about his role.

“Secret agreement” with Armenia? Anyone taking Axeris for solid, civilized people is either naive or corrupt.

Azerbaijan is a new state created by Stalin and the communist party and it needs to respect nobel nations like Armenia!
