YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The steering committee of the Pan-Armenian Forum in Support of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutiun organized–Thursday–a memorial march dedicated to the anniversary of the 1990 Baku pogroms.
Among those in attendance were a number of representatives of public and political organizations and intelligentsia.
Describing the Baku events as a genocide–chairperson of the Democratic Party of Armenia Aram Sargssian said that Armenian authorities did not pay enough attention to the matter.
According to ARF representative Hrair Karapetian–the danger of genocide still hangs over Armenia’s–and that Armenia’s should always be careful.
Karapetian stressed that Armenia’s should bear the responsibility of the entire nation–and that wounds would not heal unless the culprits are punished.
He noted that the Armenian authorities had no clear position on this matter and were also absent from the said event.
Representatives of the Iranian Embassy in Armenia attended the march. Second Secretary of the Iranian Embassy Ali Kazimzade noted in an interview with journalists that embassy representatives considered it to be their duty to pay tribute to the innocent victims.
Sargssian announced that the steering committee of the Forum in Support of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the ARF has planned a number of events to commemorate the 1988-1990 pogroms of the Armenian population in Azerbaijan–as well as to mark the 10th anniversary of the national liberation struggle of Karabakh.
