HOLLYWOOD–The Los Angeles rock scene is ready for a face-lift–and rock bands comprised of Armenian youth are leading the way.
Io–a band of four Armenia’s who released their first CD in February–will be performing at the Troubadour in W. Hollywood tonight–Friday–August 20. Io’s music is a blend of alternative rock and psychedelic pop–and the band is proud of playing a sweet melody and mellow chords once in a while amidst a rock culture that’s grown to be extremely heavy and exhausting. "We like to provoke–but not with brash loudness–but rather innovative and emotional melodies and ideas," said frontman/keyboardist Sebu.
The $8 admission is worth every penny–because the remaining bands are all impressive. The Apex Theory is comprised of four clever individuals–three of which have Armenian blood. The band has begun sweeping the Hollywood clubs gaining critical enthusiasm. Pseudo-pop/punk rockers The Freaks–also with a few Armenia’s in the band is among the many great acts of the night.
Don’t miss this one. The Troubadour is located at 9081 Santa Monica Blvd.–West Hollywood. Doors open at 8 p.m.
