STEPANAKERT (ARMENPRESS)–The deputy speaker of the British House of Lords, Baroness Caroline Cox was in Stepanakert Tuesday where she was honored for years of humanitarian work for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The medal, which was given to Cox by Karabakh Parliament Chairman Ashot Ghulian, was minted on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Karabakh Liberation Movement. It honored her for her devotion to the people of Karabakh.
Upon receiving the medal, she recalled that in the early 90s the basement of the government building was used as a hospital. She said she was happy to see Nagorno-Karabakh developing.
"I appreciate this medal greatly and will keep it close to my heart," she said.
Cox was in Nagorno-Karabakh with members of her family. Her grandchild told reporters that Cox family will not cut their ties with Nagorno-Karabakh and have plans to expand them further.
