YEREVAN (Armenpress)–After an eight year-long halt–air communication has resumed between Yerevan and Georgian Batumi–the capital of Ajaria–the autonomous republic on the Black Sea coast.
The first flight was carried out on July 22. Chief Executive of Batumi airport Ruslan Diasamidze said the flight would be operated by Soviet-made Yak-42 planes.
Flights will be carried out once every fourteen days. A one-way ticket costs $50.
Armen Gevorgian–head of Armenian community in Ajaria–said the air communication will help restore contacts Armenia’s had with Batumi–once a favorable place to spend summer vacations.
