STEPANAKERT—Artsakh leadership on Saturday, September 3 met with delegation from the Kingdom of Belgium Els Van Hoof, MP of the Chamber of Representatives, and Head of the Belgium-Armenia parliamentary friendship group who had arrived in Artsakh on the initiative of the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy (EAFJD).
President Bako Sahakian received the delegation discussing the development of inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries.
Sahakian expressed gratitude toward the Belgian parliamentarian’s visit to Artsakh during the state’s 25th Independence Anniversary, stating that their sincere friendship was highly valued in Artsakh. He also noted that the Artsakh-Belgium relationship is a “pivotal component” to the country’s success, according to the Presidential Press Office.
Artsakh Foreign Minister Karen Mirzoyan met the delegation to discuss the priorities and direction of the state’s foreign policy. He discussed Artsakh’s democratic development and state-building process, underlining that there is no alternative to the independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (Artsakh).
The meeting also discussed the Artsakh-Azerbaijani conflict and its peaceful settlement process.
According to the EAFJC official Facebook page, after a press conference held for the Belgian delegation and Artsakh leadership, the deputies paid visited the Gandzasar Monastery, Karabakh’s carpet factory, the Ghazantchetsots Cathedral and the Fine Arts, Geological museums in Shushi.
