YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A special booklet containing a set of ethical rules for journalists covering legal and judiciary related issues was presented on March 12. "The idea of publishing such a booklet was conceived by journalists writing on legal themes," Julieta Amirkhanian–chairwoman of the Phemida organization said during the presentation.
The booklet was praised by a senior official of the Court of Appeals–who described it "a convention–the principles of which should be observed by all relevant people". He also said that the booklet will help raise the image of Armenian courts. One of the co-authors of the booklet–Rouzan Minasian–said it was time to create "an ombudsman for journalists".
The booklet was published with the assistance of the Chemonics International organization.
It contains detailed information and description of the status of journalists covering legal-related issues–their rights and obligations and a set of ethical norms that should be observed.
